The Slansk\u00e1 Cycle Route<\/strong> offers an appealing combination of cycling, nature, history and engineering monuments. The route runs from Pre\u0161ov<\/a> through the villages of Dulova Ves, Koko\u0161ovce and Zlat\u00e1 Ba\u0148a, all the way to the village of \u010cervenica. It runs through the northern part of the volcanic mountain range Slansk\u00e9 vrchy<\/a> and, thanks to its predominantly tarmac surface, it is suitable for leisure cyclists, families with older children and cyclists with trailers. The entire route can be covered as a full-day trip, or you can choose a shorter section depending on your fitness level and the time you have available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Starting at the historic Solivar<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The starting point is the Pre\u0161ov-Solivar district, known for its historic salt production site. Solivar Museum<\/a>It is one of the most significant industrial heritage sites in Slovakia and serves as a reminder of the period when salt was mined and processed in this area. You can therefore begin your trip with a brief visit to the historic site and then continue into the quieter countryside beyond the town.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From Pre\u0161ov, the route leads via Dulova Ves and Koko\u0161ovce to the holiday resort Sigord<\/a>. Cyclists can take a break by the water here, go for a walk in the surrounding area or visit the local mineral springs. In the past, a forest railway ran through here \u2013 later known as the Pionierska Railway \u2013 which linked Pre\u0161ov with the surrounding forests and the recreational area. Today, preserved remains and cycle paths mark its original route in some places.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are also mineral springs in the vicinity of Zlat\u00e1 Ba\u0148a, where cyclists can take a break and recharge their batteries. The route continues through countryside featuring meadows, forests and views of the surrounding hills. The Slansk\u00e9 vrchy hills were formed by volcanic activity, which is evident not only in the rugged terrain but also in the presence of rare rocks and minerals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pust\u00e9 Pole and a tribute to the Slovak National Uprising<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

One of the key stops is Pust\u00e9 Pole, where a monument to the Slovak National Uprising stands. It commemorates the events of the Second World War and the anti-fascist resistance in the region. The Protected Natural Areas of the Slansk\u00e9 Hills<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Among the best known is the large-flowered pasque flower, the presence of which was one of the reasons for the protection of this nature reserve. Visitors should only walk along the marked paths, take care not to damage the plants, and respect the rules of nature conservation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
